Beverly Buis
President

Bass Clarinet
Beverly has been performing with Lone Star Symphonic Band since February 2004, and has been a member of the Board since May of the same year. Originally from Oklahoma, she attended high school in Katy at Mayde Creek High School, where she was involved in marching and concert bands, and played in the local community 4th of July celebrations. Attending college on music scholarships, she received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Social Sciences, and works as a Routing Analyst for a Food Services Distributor.
 
 
Steven Wagner

String Bass
Steven has been playing with the Lone Star Symphonic Band since the beginning of 2011 and was elected onto the board towards the end of that year. He started playing the String Bass when he was in the sixth grade at Katy Junior High and continued to play in High School at Morton Ranch in the Varsity Orchestra under direction of Paul Sikes. While in High School, he played for the musical at hisschool each year. Steven studied at Texas Tech for a year for String Bass under Mark Morton. Currently he is working at Group 1 Automotive in sales while workingon a degree in accounting.
 
 
 
 
Sandra Brunskill
Vice President of Membership

Clarinet
Sandra has been a member of the Lone Star Symphonic Band since May of 2014. She is originally from Michigan, where she earned her high school diploma from Interlochen Arts Academy, and her Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University. After graduation, she relocated to Texas where she recently retired following thirty years of teaching.  Sandra earned her Masters of Education from Stephen F. Austin University in 1985.  During her teaching career, her bands consistently won numerous awards including earning 4th place in the State of Texas for Class CC Middle School Honor Band.   Retirement has been anything but peaceful for Sandra, since she has been busy teaching master classes, private lessons, judging and serving as a band clinician.  When she is not teaching, she enjoys scrapbooking and traveling with her husband.  Sandra is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Texas Bandmaster Association.
 
 
Jerry Johnson

Tuba
Jerry has been a member of the Lone Star Symphonic Band since January of 2008 and has been a member of the board since 2010. He was born in Houston and is a graduate of Mirabeau B. Lamar High School. He studied tuba under William Rose at the University of Houston, where he was a member of the Cougar Marching Band, University Concert Band, and the UH Cougar Brass. Jerry enlisted in the US Army and attended the US Army Element-Navy School of Music, where he continued his tuba studies under David Dorrough. After graduation, he was assigned to the First Cavalry Division Band, Ft Hood, TX and later assigned to the Sixth Infantry (Light) Division Band, Ft Wainwright, AK. Jerry received a BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in music from the University of Houston-Downtown and is currently a computer technician. In addition to his board duties, Jerry also serves as Co-Music Librarian.
 
 
Stephen B. Johnson

Euphonium
Stephen has been a member of the Lone Star Symphonic Band since November of 1999 and has been a member of the Board since 2000. He was born in Houston and attended school in Katy at James E. Taylor High School. He attended college at Texas Tech University, obtaining both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting, with a Minor in Music Literature. At Texas Tech, Stephen was a member of the "Goin' Band from Raiderland," as well as a member of the University Concert Band and the "Court Jesters" Basketball Band. In addition to his service to the Band, he also volunteers as the adult Handbell Director at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy. A licensed CPA, Stephen currently works as the Construction Accountant for the Katy Independent School District.
 
 
Eley Grimes

Eley has been performing with the Lone Star Symphonic Band trumpet section since August 2014 and joined the board as Member at large in 2017. Originally from Katy, he attended high school at Katy High School under the leadership of the current LSSB director Bob Bryant, where he was involved in marching and concert bands, jazz band, and road crew. Attending college on a partial music scholarship, he received a Bachelor's of Business degree in Finance in 1999 at Southwest Texas University (now Texas State), and works as a Senior Analyst for ENI Trading and Shipping. He has a wife, three kids, and three dogs and resides in Fulshear.
 
 
Dana Lopez

Flute
Dana López joined the Lone Star Symphonic Band in March of 2014. She is originally from Southern California, where she was a flutist with the Golden West Pops and the Orange County Symphonic Band for many years. It was in California that she earned her both her Master of Arts in Linguistics and her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from California State University. She has been a teacher of English as a Second Language for 15 years and is a full-time ESL teacher at the Learning Institute of Texas in Houston as well as an active member of the Texas Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TexTESOL). Outside of her profession, Dana is a flutist and vocalist, teaches flute lessons privately, is a member of Houston Flute Club, enjoys spending time with her husband Francisco, learning the piano alongside her son Lucas, reading philosophy, linguistics and fiction, and roller-skating with her dog, Max.
 
 
Cecelia Peterson

Cecelia has been teaching music since 1992 and is the director of the band program at Aristoi Classical Academy, a charter school here in Katy where she also teaches music theatre.  She joined the Lone Star Symphonic Band for the first time over a decade ago after visiting her alma mater, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and realizing she missed performing with a band.  In her spare time, she designs marching band drills, teaches private lessons, delivers for Amazon, and spends as much time as she can with her husband and 2 teenagers.
 
 
Jaclyn Ritter

Alto Saxophone
Jaclyn has been a member of the Lone Star Symphonic Band since August of 2011 and has been a member of the board of directors since ???.  Growing up in Naperville, Illinois, Jaclyn was apart of the wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, and marching band.  Jaclyn earned a bachelors degree in Communications Studies, with a heavy emphasis in Anthropology, from the University of Iowa.  In 2008, she married and moved to Fulshear where she currently works as the Editor of Fulshear Magazine.  With two kids, three big dogs, and one cat, Jaclyn's household is always busy!
 
 
 
 
Tammi Tuthill

Flute
Tammi has been with the Lone Star Symphonic Band since May of 2007 and has been a Board member since June of 2008. Originally from New York, she attended high school in Pasadena at Sam Rayburn High School where she was involved in the marching band, color guard, and concert band. She was also involved in the Foley's All-Star Band and also Rice University's The Mob both under the direction of Ken Dye. She majored in music at San Jacinto Community College and at Sam Houston State University but now works as a Department Administrator at an oil and gas servicing company.
